By car
From Bucharest/Brașov after you get on the E578 (at Chichiș, Covasna county) and pass Sfântu Gheorghe, you will discover the changing landscapes and fresh air. If you see & feel this, it means that you are on the right track:
You see Ciomad Mountain which hides the unique volcanic lake from Central and Eastern Europe.
Just a few more minutes and you willl arrive in the touristical center of the destination: Băile Tușnad.
From Târgu Mureș/Miercurea Ciuc after you’ve enjoyed the wonderful landscapes of the Harghita mountain (13 A national road), you pass Miercurea Ciuc and on the european road E574 at Sâncrăieni and you will enter the north side of the destination. You will have to pass Miercurea Ciuc if you arrive from Toplița or Comănești.
You can get here on the E574 road from Târgu Secuiesc (Onești, Galați) too, if you follow the 11B national road in Covasna county and after you pass the Monument from Nyergestető you will enter the destination at Cozmeni.
By train
With the train you will travel on the CF 400 Brașov-Deda route. All the trains (Regio, Inter Regio) stop in Băile Tușnad while in Tușnad, Sânsimion, Sântimbru and Sâncrăieni only the Regio trains will stop.
Don’t forget to check the trains schedule and to buy tickets.
The average duration of the travel is not that high (from Brașov: 1,5 hours; București: 4 hours; Târgu Mureș 4,5 hours; Cluj-Napoca: 6,5 hours) and you will be delighted by the beautiful landscapes of the area.
